Anxiety…it’s an Issue

What makes you most anxious?

What makes you most anxious? That’s a question that recently popped up on my WordPress/Jetpack app. That’s hard to answer. So many things can drive up anxiety. Polarizing politics. Worrying that what you say or write can offend (there’s a reason why I changed the name of a noodle dish I made a while back). I’ve been bullied and criticized on social media groups for my views because they don’t mesh with the current narrative of diversity. I’m just offering my opinion and often based on my loved experiences as a child of immigrants. MY EXPERIENCES. They don’t even want to acknowledge it. I can tell. And yes, that makes me angry and anxious.

Are there other things? Sure. The future in general. I have a young child. What would the world be like when he’s grown up? Or even as a teen? He’s not the biggest kid around. What if he’s bullied? Boys are meaner than girls. And boys have body image issues too. And their body image issues aren’t discussed at length like ours are. I want him to feel good about himself, even if he ends up being an average height guy who weighs like 135. I don’t want him to over obsess with bulking up. But it’s probably too early for me to think about that. Right? Is it? He’s only four!

I could probably go on and on. But if I do, I’ll turn into my late grandmother, who constantly worried about things. My mom says I’m a lot like her in that way. I need to learn how to overcome this sort of thing, but at the same time, not avoid media completely. Because you can’t do that these days. It’s all around us!
